William J. Johnson followed his grandfathers footsteps and started a building company more than 30 years ago. Now, to keep the tradition alive and well in the Johnson family, Bill has turned the building business over to his son Robert. Bill continues to develop subdivisions in Lake & Geauga counties.

Johnson Builders continues a long tradition of family service to the needs of the homeowner and buyer. Bill Johnson and his son Bob fulfill a tradition started by Bill's grandfather who was involved with land development and the building supply industry.

His uncle also worked as a contractor and developer and Bill's mother built several homes a year for a period of time.

Bill Johnson was born in Painesville and grew up in Mentor. With his family's interest in building, he naturally explored various career roles in the building trades. He completed carpentry training at Max Hayes, worked several years with a painting contractor and then worked with heavy equipment for three years. He then began building home additions with a friend and his career grew from there. In 1968, Bill build his first home on his own, sold it and immediately built another.
